The Perfect St. Patrick’s Day Meal

St. Patrick’s Day is only days away and we have the perfect recipes featuring Ireland’s hearty cuisine for you to celebrate this holiday. Irish Coffee

Full of rich and bold flavours, this smooth, well known specialty coffee is the perfect way to start the day of Irish celebrations. Serve it in your favourite glass mug to tie it all together.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Oz brewed coffee
  • 1 Tsp brown sugar
  • ¼ C Irish Whiskey (Jameson)
  • Heavy cream
  • Whipped cream (garnish)

Slow Cooker Guinness Beef Stew

We all love a good stew to warm us up. Gather your ingredients and let this comfort dish simmer in the slow cooker for the day. Packed full of savoury flavours, this stew will leave you feeling full.

Serves: 8      Cook time: 4 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ Lb beef chuck
  • 2-3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ C carrots
  • 1 C celery
  • 1 C yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 4 C baby yukon gold potatoes
  • 1 ½ Tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 ½ Tsp salt
  • 12 Oz Guinness
  • 3 C beef broth
  • ¼ C tomato paste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 7 oz peas (drained)
  • Chives (optional garnish)

Irish Apple Cake

From the fluffiness of the cake to the freshness of the apples, this classic Irish dessert will satisfy your sweet tooth. You can top it off with whip cream and a smooth caramel sauce for added flavour.  

Cook time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 C flour
  • ⅓ Tsp baking powder
  • ⅔ C sugar
  • 8 Tbsp (½ C) butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 egg
  • ½  C milk
  • 2 granny smith apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 Tsp sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp cinnamon

For topping (optional):

  • powdered sugar
  • freshly whipped cream
  • salted caramel sauce
