New Year, New Goals

As 2019 is in its infancy, we all have an opportunity to start the new year on a new blank canvas, with a new perspective and a series of new goals. Creating goals each year is a great way to set your life up for success no matter what you want out of life, below, we have listed some ideas that we hope will motivate you to live your best life, in mind, body and spirit.

Get Outside

Try Something New

There’s no better way to start the year off than by trying something new, whether it’s new foods, or taking up a new hobby. Switch up your routine by signing up for a photography class, or a knitting club, there are also a variety of fitness classes that you could look into at your local recreation centre.

Trying something new is a great way to break out of your normal flow, get inspired and meet new people. Trying something new can also teach you new things about yourself that you never discovered before, maybe you had a hidden talent for pottery or simply love to run, you never know until you try!

Live Your Best Life

It may be too cliché to say “new year, new you” although it’s true. Start the new year off with optimism about the future and live the life you deserve. Starting off with a blank canvas means you get to add colour as you create your masterpiece, so add goals to your list to help you achieve living life to the fullest.

This goal should be focused on going after what you desire out of your life. For example, take 30 minutes out of your schedule, each day, or each week and do something just for you, whether it be enjoying your favourite tea or meditating.

Taking time to truly appreciate the good things in your life is linked to many health benefits, including improved mood, better sleep, more positive habits, less inflammation, and improved heart health. It’s no secret, though, that savoring the little things that make life sweet is easier said than done. A tool you can use to focus on the happy things in your life is by creating a happiness jar. Whenever the moment strikes, write it down and add it to the jar. On the last day of 2019, open the jar and reminisce on all of the wonderful things that took place throughout the year. Ultimately, when you achieve your other goals you will be on your way to living your best life in 2019.
