Home of Atlantic Canada’s first Nicklaus Design golf course

With a championship-calibre golf course and a wide variety of unique amenities you will not find anywhere else, it’s no wonder that Forest Lakes Country Club is fast becoming a world-class lifestyle destination unlike any other in Atlantic Canada.

Nicklaus Design, the world’s leading golf design firm, founded by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus, is developing the 18-hole golf course at Forest Lakes, which will be the first course of its stature east of Ontario.

The developers of Forest Lakes Country Club, Terra Firma Development Corporation, located in Bedford, Nova Scotia, are certain the course brings great value and prestige to the Forest Lakes community and to Atlantic Canada.

“This is an environmentally-conscious project that has awareness and sensitivity towards the area’s natural habitat. This course will be built to the highest specifications using premium golf course construction technology,” says Maria McGowan, Marketing Director at Terra Firma Development Corporation.

The course has been thoughtfully planned to enhance the natural surroundings at the development site, conserving as many native trees and vegetation as possible and respecting rock formations and natural land slopes.

“Our challenge now is to take this wonderful canvas and to provide members and guests at Forest Lakes with a golf experience that is both enjoyable and memorable, and one of which we can all be proud,” said Paul Stringer, Vice President of Nicklaus Design.

The name ‘Nicklaus’ has long been associated with success on the golf course. Jack Nicklaus, otherwise known as the ‘golden bear,’ has earned 18 professional major championship titles and 73 wins by PGA tour (3rd of all time) throughout his impressive career. His electrifying finishes and sheer will to win have truly set him apart and, today, the name Nicklaus represents superior golf course design.

To date, Nicklaus Design has 289 courses ready for play, worldwide. The course at Forest Lakes will be one of the few Nicklaus Design courses in the country, and promises to bring something special to the province of Nova Scotia.

With the long winter now behind us, construction crews are now back on site to continue the clearing of the front nine and back nine holes with construction of the first holes commencing in the summer. Terra Firma anticipates that all 18 holes of the course will be playable within the next two years.

With a Nicklaus Design golf course under construction, the timing has never been better to purchase a home at Forest Lakes. According to the Golf Research Group, the value of real estate situated on a Nicklaus Design golf course is, on average, 80 per cent more valuable than those located on courses by the other top-nine golf course designers in the world. The Forest Lakes team are also currently offering incredible savings on lots, a deal known as the “Lot Ambassador Program,” which won’t last long.

The Forest Lakes team are certain that the magnificent natural surroundings of Nova Scotia’s countryside will provide the perfect backdrop for the region’s only Nicklaus Design course.
