FOREST LAKES, N.S. — The Forest Lakes Country Club hosted their third annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Welcome Lodge on Nov. 26, 2017, and there was plenty of singing and hot beverages to go around.

Children coloured and made crafts, and also made holiday cards for residents of Northwood Manor. The cards will be passed out to seniors who may not have family to spend time with this season.

Joanne Cheevers, marketing director for Forest Lakes, said the event featured performances by East Coast Carolers and a local school choir.

“Attendance has doubled from last year,” Cheevers said.

“It’s events like these that really bring all those people together, under one roof, and tonight it’s our way of also saying thank you for their continued support,” she said.

“This tree lighting is such an important celebration for us to close off the year as it instills what life at Forest Lakes is all about, and that is creating a wonderful community for all to enjoy.”

Development at the Forest Lakes resort continues, with an interchange connecting to Highway 101 expected in the future. Cheevers says construction on the golf course is on track for limited play on the back nine holes in 2018, with the rest of the course planned to be complete in 2019.
